Purebred dogs are divided by British and American Kennel Club rules into a seven Group system. This series aims to provide an alphabetical breed listing insight and knowledge into some of the most popular pure breeds, covering one group at a time. When a decision is made to have a family dog, it is well worth some research into what might be suitable for your family’s lifestyle. The wrong breed of dog added to the family, can turn into a tearful concept.

Hopefully some enlightenment is given here for potential purebred dog owners, which will serve as a guide into the dog most suitable for your family. Important factors such as temperament and health defects within a breed are a consideration worthy of note.
THE HOUND GROUP
This is a large and diverse group. All are hunters, and hunt by sight, or by scent. Some kill their quarry when caught and others, which corner game, bark and bay for the hunter to come and kill.
