Q: Is being artistic a gift, or can anyone draw or paint? A: I believe anyone has the ability to express themselves artistically. As youngsters we are more in tune with our talents, however whilst growing up we seem to loose this natural quality. Drawing and painting is really just a question of putting marks on paper, the trick is to know which marks are correct. To be honest with you, I struggle all the time, but it’s worth persevering and generally you can work your way through. I can never seem to get it right first time.

Q: Most artists struggle, have you ever considered getting a proper job?
A: Good question, my father used to ask me the same and I sometimes wonder myself. Expressing yourself through art is fun and relaxing. As a hobby it is not expensive, a pad, a few pencils and paints and you are ready to start. If you find that your friends are putting your stuff on their walls, or start asking for paintings, perhaps then you can take it a bit more seriously and if they suggest payment, you are on your way.
