Record Spring with Birdlife International's Spring Alive Project

Migrant swallows, swifts and other birds returning to Europe from far-off Africa are the traditional heralds of the arrival of spring. BirdLife Cyprus is encouraging everyone across the island to help celebrate the end of winter by participating in Europe’s biggest spring bird watch – the Spring Alive project.

Once again ‘Spring Alive’ is taking place throughout Europe. It is a simple bird watching survey. It involves participants making a note of the first time they see a Barn Swallow, Common Swift, White Stork or European Cuckoo this spring and entering the data on a special interactive website at www.springalive.net The results will be published on the same website and animated maps will show the progress of spring throughout Europe. The website will be updated regularly to show the progress of the birds into Europe.
