Pause For Thought

A few months ago, I was working on a property in a small village just outside of Larnaca and was disturbed by two elderly Cypriot women who began to hurl abuse at one another from each side of their boundary fence. As I was trying to understand the nature of their conflict, five other people joined forces with one of the women.

The angry shouts of abuse increased and went on for about fifteen minutes causing the lone woman to be completely overwhelmed.
In her distress, she ran towards me with open arms. I instinctively walked towards her and wrapped my arms around her to give comfort. Her tear-filled eyes reflected the anguish she was experiencing in her heart. She was speechless and confused. The crowd continued to shout abuse, mocking and laughing at the woman as I led her away to a place of safety. She agreed for me to pray with her and peace returned to her heart.
