Our World Tour - Day 50 - Day 67

Day 50; Tuesday February 20: We’ve been on the road for six weeks and feeling it as we take a river trip down Yarra to Williamstown in the morning, followed by Melbourne’s city centre aquarium. Plan A was to take Alison out for meal as a parting thank you for her hospitality but Krys and I decide on an early night and leave Barbara and Alison to talk over old times. Bed by 8.30 - sleep for 11 hours.

Day 51; Wednesday February 21: We head north, and more significantly, west on the long drive home to Perth, heading for the town of Echuca which owes its fame to having once played host to an Australian TV drama about river boats. We lunch at an Irish-theme pub after booking seats on the afternoon paddleboat ride down the Murray River with a suitably-dressed salesman who informs us that “my grandmother’s family were among the early settlers. They were early importers of iron and steel - around their necks and ankles.”
