Fine wines are no longer just a pleasant hobby, they can now be considered an investment too - for some. It can be very lucrative and unlike stocks and shares you can still enjoy it even if it falls in value significantly!

Experts within the wine industry reckon the best investors can see returns of up to 30% a year from some bottles. Of course, like shares, wines can fall in value too, but at least you can drink the negative equity. It is important to bear in mind the one golden rule of wine investment: buy only what you would like to drink!
Wine has produced comparable returns to equities over 20 years. As with any investment, the key thing is to buy a well recognised brand which is a good vintage or track record and has a good score from the critics.
