Connecting Health and Fitness Island-Wide

he rising role of health and fitness in our island lives is well evident from the recent influx of fully qualified instructors, experts and therapists, and the consequent broad diversity of classes, treatments and services. However if you don’t know what’s going on in your area, the promising world of health and fitness is not a great deal of use. Fortunately one entrepreneurial businesswoman has taken our little island a giant step forward by developing her unique Paphos dance shop into an on-line information point that features dance and fitness classes island-wide.

Born in Yorkshire, Philippa Roumelioti spent years as a dancer and dance instructor in the UK before working as an overseas entertainer and then entertainment manager for Thomson Holidays. Philippa recalls, “The travel was great as I worked in such a wide variety of destinations, from ski resorts to the Spanish islands. However in 1992 I was based here, in 1993 I met my future Cypriot husband and by 1994 I had moved to the island permanently to start a completely new way of life.”
Upon relocating to Paphos, Philippa kept up her dance career as one of three ladies in a dance group called the “Ranch Girls”, performing at hotels between 2002 and 2004. Eventually hanging up her dancing shoes, Philippa’s organisational skills were then put to good use when she became one of the first wedding planners in Cyprus through her events company “Exclusive Events Ltd”, and in more recent years undertaking the role of event manager for the upmarket Aphrodite Hills resort.
